Consul General of Switzerland in SH Visited nihub

Mr. Sacha Bachmann, Consul General of Switzerland in Shanghai, visited nihub, together with Mr. Istvan Kocsis, Deputy Consul General, Ms. Stella Nie, Head of Economic Section, and Mr. Thomas Yulzari, General Manager of E.M.S. Electro Medical System (Hangzhou) Co. on February 22nd.

Mr. Lucas Rondez, CEO of nihub and President of SwissCham Shanghai, introduced the thriving innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in Hangzhou. In recent years, Hangzhou has made great efforts to improve its business environment and has been successful in attracting numerous enterprises and talents. People from all over the world have brought unique ideas, cutting-edge technologies, and cultural diversity, making Hangzhou a more attractive and cosmopolitan city.

He introduced nihub to the Consul General and his delegation. nihub provides various services for foreign-funded enterprises to enter China, including investment and financing, business investigation, acceleration programs, incorporation support, etc., and also assists Chinese enterprises in scaling up overseas.

As the representative of entrepreneurs, Mr. Wu Yujie, founder of ShadeMe, introduced his full-day smart shading controller project. The project was initially founded in Switzerland and received a 350,000 CHF grant in EPFL, and the product has been successfully put into production. Its founder is now back in China to continue further the development of its market.

We discussed and exchanged ideas about the innovation and entrepreneurship environment in Hangzhou, as well as the progress of innovative projects.

IoT Innovation Summit Recap

nihub — IoT Innovation Summit was successfully completed at the Linping International Talent Hub in Hangzhou yesterday.

Lucas Rondez (President of SwissCham Shanghai and CEO of nihub), July Lee (Strategy Director of Tuya Smart(NYSE: TUYA)), Zhao Qi (Investment Manager of Yinjiang Capital) attended the summit and served as the jury for the summit.

In the wave of digitalization, the IoT and Smart City are still going strong. The latest research indicate that the global smart city market is expected to grow at a rapid rate of 23% per year and Asia-Pacific is a main shareholder, which is not surprising considering that 7 of the 10 most populated cities in the world are in Asia.

Thus, nihub organized the IoT Innovation Summit, gathering professionals in the industry to discuss not only about the business growth opportunities but also the challenges and risks.

July from TUYA explained their brand building strategy for various customer groups such as hotels, real estate, new energy vehicles, and so on.

Jonas Mikael Valkonen, the founder and CEO of Vamio, brought an exciting speech on smart elderly and the opportunities and challenges of starting a business in the smart city sector.

6 projects from around the world – Shademe, Ecolumiere, VividSparks, MicroSec, BreatheIO, and MyElixa – gathered together this time. After considering various factors such as innovation, market potential, and team members, among others, the jury ultimately selected the TOP3 projects, they are:

1st: ShadeMe

ShadeMe aims to provide intelligent shading solutions for commercial and residential buildings with glass facades and to save energy for cooling, heating, and lighting.

Rewards:80,000 RMB

2nd: MicroSec

The market leader in the lightweight IoT security field has developed the world’s first unified protocol to protect highly restricted devices and networks that cannot be protected by today’s security methods.

Rewards:30,000 RMB

3rd: VividSparks

VividSparks is a high-speed computing technology company that specializes in fabless semiconductors. The company wants to create a least power consuming, less silicon area consuming computing world, at the same time deliver top class performance.
